Position Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient care, excellent clinical skills, and a positive attitude. As a Dental Hygienist at Sunrise Dental of Puyallup, you will play a vital role in maintaining and improving our patients' oral health through preventative measures and patient education.
Key Responsibilities: Patient Care:
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, root planing, and prophylaxis.
- Conduct comprehensive periodontal assessments and accurately chart findings.
- Administer local anesthesia and perform soft tissue management as needed.
- Apply cavity-preventive agents such as fluorides and sealants to protect teeth.
- You will be assisted by a Dental Assistant to take and develop radiographs (X-rays) as well as polish for Assisted Hygiene.
- Provide oral cancer screenings and discuss findings with the dentist.
Patient Education:
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations.
- Discuss the importance of regular dental visits and preventative care.
- Tailor education to individual patient’s needs to improve their oral health outcomes.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with dentists to develop comprehensive and individualized treatment plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear explanations of procedures and treatments.
- Foster a welcoming and reassuring environment for patients to enhance their overall experience.
Operational Duties:
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting care and treatment plans promptly.
- Scheduling re-care appointments for patients
- Ensure all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained.
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Stay updated with the latest dental hygiene techniques, technologies, and advancements through continuing education and professional development.
Qualifications: - Valid Dental Hygienist license in the state of Washington.
- Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
