Behavior Specialist (Certified Teacher â Emotional Disabilities Focus)
Position Type: Full-Time, School-Based
Grade Levels: Kâ12 (placement based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Behavior Specialist who is a certified teacher with strong, hands-on experience managing significant student behaviors in a classroom setting . This role is ideal for educators with a background in Emotional Disabilities (ED) who are skilled in proactive behavior supports, de-escalation strategies, and creating structured, supportive learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct instructional and behavioral support to students with emotional and behavioral needs
- Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavior supports (PBIS)
- Collaborate with special education teams, administrators, and related service providers
- Support classroom staff with behavior strategies, data collection, and interventions
- Use de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practices to maintain a safe learning environment
- Collect and analyze behavior data to guide instructional and behavioral decisions
- Maintain compliance with IEPs, behavior plans, and district/state guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Active teaching certification (Special Education preferred)
- Direct classroom experience working with students exhibiting behavioral challenges
- Background in Emotional Disabilities (ED) strongly preferred
- Experience with behavior management, crisis intervention, and behavior plans
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ED, LD, or Multi-Categorical classrooms
- Familiarity with PBIS, ABA-informed strategies, or behavior tracking systems
- CPI, Safety-Care, or similar behavior/crisis training
