Their responsibilities include:
Installation: Installing cable TV, satellite, and internet systems, including data and voice cables, and cabled devices for home security
Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on cable systems
Troubleshooting: Identifying and fixing issues with network communication
Repair: Repairing cable system infrastructure Inspections:
Conducting inspections to ensure the system is working properly Support structures: Installing support structures like cable racks and j-hooks
Customer service: Communicating with customers to explain and troubleshoot issues
Documentation:
Completing paperwork to document the work performed
Cable technicians may use a variety of tools, including cable reels, cable splitters, and other diagnostic equipment.
They may also work outdoors and travel in utility vehicles.
Cable technicians should be physically fit, able to lift up to 80 pounds, and climb ladders up to 28 feet. They should also have strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
