Onsite position - Direct Hire
Position Summary: Assists pharmacists in the drug distribution process.
Essential Functions of the Job: Counts, packages and labels medication for inspection by pharmacist and fills routine orders for prescription pharmaceuticals. Inputs patient and prescription data into the pharmacy computer system to process prescriptions and maintain patient profiles. Maintains pharmacy automation machines including blister packs, robotics and counting machines as necessary. Accesses medication history within patient electronic records and communicates with providers and health care team through secure EHR systems. Assists and serves patients with phone calls, refill requests and shipment of orders. Assists in the ordering, stocking, and maintenance of drug inventory. Bills and adjudicates prescription claims. Assists in the preparation of reports and written documentation using Microsoft office as required by the department, company, state and federal agencies. Ability to use different platforms to communicate and organize delivery services and/or mail orders. Assists pharmacists as directed.
Education Required (Minimum level of education): High school/ GED and completion of a Pharmacy Technician program.
Certifications/Licenses Required: CA Board of Pharmacy Technician license. PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification preferred.
Experience Required: (Minimum level of experience): Three (3) years of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician.
Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job: Bi-lingual (English/Spanish or English/Arabic preferred. Excellent oral and written communications must. Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job: Familiarity with Medi-Cal Program is preferred. Knowledge of Medical terminology. Knowledge of Pharmacy automation machines including blister packs, robotics and counting machine a plus.
Equipment Used: Personal Computer, Pharmacy software programs, Parata Max 2, and Kirby Lester counting machine.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Occasional lifting of supplies and equipment. Superb organizational and analytical abilities. Driving and occasional travel to other SYH sites may be required for the role. May be required to work some evenings and/or Saturdays. Universal Requirements Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs.
