Community Hospital, a highly successful and growing, independent healthcare organization in western Colorado, is seeking a visionary Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer (CNO/COO) to join our executive leadership team. Position Summary

The CNO/COO will provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and clinical leadership for the organization. This dual role ensures high-quality patient care while driving operational efficiencies. The individual will have significant autonomy to make decisions that align with the hospital’s mission and growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead nursing and operational teams to achieve and exceed quality and performance goals.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives supporting clinical excellence, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards of care.
  • Oversee resource allocation, including staffing models, to maintain low interim/temporary staff usage and exceptional nursing-to-patient ratios.
  • Serve as a champion for Pathway to Excellence® initiatives and evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to drive sustainable growth and enhance community impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required;
  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Master’s in Healthcare Administration (MHA), or a related advanced degree required.
  • Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado or eligibility for licensure.
  • At least 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience as a CNO, COO, or in a similar executive role within a comparable or larger organization ( Net Revenue of $300M+, 1,400 employees, and over 300 nurses ).
  • Proven ability to build high-performing teams and consistently meet or exceed organizational objectives.
  • Exceptional decision-making, analytical, and interpersonal skills to lead in a complex healthcare environment.

Compensation

  • Competitive Base Salary : $330,000 to $380,000 annually.
