Under the supervision of the Dentist or contracted Dentists, the Dental Hygienist performs professional dental care the field of dental hygiene including all related clinical procedures.
• Prepares necessary treatment materials and trays according to the needs of individual participants.
• Screens and evaluates patients regarding cavity detection, periodontal pathology and medical history.
• Performs exposing, processing and mounting of radiographs.
• Administers local anesthetics and gross debridement in treatment of acute periodontal conditions.
• Performs supra and sub gingival scaling and curettage, root planning and oral prophylaxis.
• Administers topical fluorides.
• Provides instruction for proper home care prevention techniques for oral hygiene including proper tooth brushing, flossing and nutrition.
• Escorts participants from the treatment rooms and places them in comfortable surroundings.
• Notes and documents participant’s records for procedures performed.
• Assists in the training of dental assistants.
• Cleans treatment room(s) after each participant visit by discarding all disposable items, gathering soiled instruments, and placing them in the sterilization area.
• Checks treatment rooms for cleanliness and corrects as necessary.
• Additional work functions and duties may be assigned
Desired Skills and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Current state issued Dental Hygienist license.
• A minimum of one year experience working in the dental profession as a dental hygienist required.
The pay offered for the position will take into consideration the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity, among other factors.
