JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team at Bright Smiles Community Clinic & Dental. The ideal candidate is committed to providing culturally competent, patient-centered care and educating patients on the importance of oral health. This role is vital to our mission of serving underserved communities and improving access to high-quality dental care.

Responsibilities

• Perform dental cleanings, prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, and fluoride treatments
• Take and interpret dental radiographs (x-rays)
• Conduct oral health assessments, including charting conditions of teeth and gums
• Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options
• Apply sealants and other preventive agents
• Assist with patient triage and support dentists during examinations or procedures as needed
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health system
• Ensure compliance with infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and clinic safety protocols
• Collaborate with dentists, assistants, and team members to deliver seamless care

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Current Minnesota Dental Hygienist license
• Local anesthesia certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)
• Nitrous oxide administration certification (preferred)
• Strong clinical skills in preventive and periodontal care
• Excellent patient communication, cultural sensitivity, and education skills
• Commitment to teamwork, compassion, and community service
• Previous experience in a community or public health setting a plus
