Robert Half Finance & Accounting is seeking an experienced Divisional Controller to join a dynamic organization in the distribution industry. This role will serve as a strategic business partner, playing a critical role in overseeing financial operations, inventory accounting, and providing operational insights that drive successful business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Manage all aspects of the division’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis to ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Inventory Accounting: Oversee and improve inventory accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements for cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory valuation. Experience in striking a balance between operational and cost efficiencies is essential.
- Operational Oversight: Act as a liaison between finance and operations teams, providing financial guidance that improves supply chain, distribution, and inventory management activities. Partner with other business units to streamline processes.
- Compliance and Controls: Lead the division’s compliance efforts by maintaining internal controls, managing audits, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the finance team within the division. Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes continuous learning and process improvement.
- Business Strategy: Partner with senior leadership to evaluate operational strategies, analyze key financial metrics, and provide actionable insights to drive growth and profitability.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive financial leadership, with at least 5 years in the distribution or manufacturing industry.
- Proven expertise in inventory accounting preferred.
- Strong operational experience, including collaboration with business units outside of finance to drive results.
- Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with business intelligence tools is a plus.
- Skills: Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings to executive leadership.
