Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to foster a robust culture of health, safety, and environmental stewardship. In this role, you'll ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, and develop policies, programs, and procedures tailored to the needs of the plant.
Responsibilities
- Develop and recommend safety policies, programs, and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and file required environmental reports and assist with customer compliance reports.
- Oversee Worker’s Compensation management and maintain OSHA record-keeping documentation.
- Create and deliver employee and supervisory training on environmental health and safety best practices.
- Manage and update the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system, reviewing chemicals and materials for regulatory compliance.
- Review incoming equipment for EHS compliance and collaborate with engineers to ensure safe and compliant machinery designs.
- Provide monthly environmental health and safety statistics to management.
- Actively support and contribute to Lean/Six Sigma initiatives and related projects.
- Align with and contribute to Six Sigma, ISO standards, and other EHS management systems, following relevant policies and procedures.
- Take on additional duties as assigned by management.
- Monitor evolving governmental regulations and advise management on their impact on manufacturing operations.
- Participate in incident reviews, recommending corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.
- Foster a strong safety culture by engaging with the Safety Team and addressing employee concerns or suggestions.
- Assist with the management of hazardous waste, including waste profiling, scheduling pickups, and shipping hazardous materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Health and Safety or a related field, OR 7+ years of management experience in the EHS field within a manufacturing environment.
- At least 5 years of management experience in EHS within a manufacturing setting.
- Strong communication, presentation, and computer skills.
- Sound decision-making and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Knowledge of applicable legal regulations and EHS compliance standards.
- Familiarity with Integrated Management Systems (EHS & Quality).
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering.
- Advanced certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
- Experience in preparing environmental reports.
- Proficiency in applying Lean Six Sigma principles.
