We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Onsite Safety Manager to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and enforce workplace safety compliance with OSHA and California rules and regulations, ensuring all employees are working in a safe and compliant manner.
- Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and initiatives to mitigate risks and prevent workplace accidents or injuries.
- Conduct safety training sessions and ensure proper onboarding of new hires with a focus on health and safety principles.
- Collaborate with HR and management to facilitate hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching of employees.
- Act as a subject matter expert on all EHS-related issues, conducting regular site assessments, audits, and inspections.
- Document and report on safety incidents, identifying root causes and implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
- Promote a safety-first culture among employees and subcontractors on-site.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, policies, and procedures regularly to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with both English- and Spanish-speaking employees to ensure safety practices are understood and followed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) , preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and California compliance laws relevant to workplace safety.
- Experience with HR-related functions, including safety training, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing coaching.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required to communicate with a diverse workforce effectively.
- Highly desired : A degree in Safety or Environmental Health or a related field.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to foster a culture of safety in the workplace.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications such as OSHA-30, CSP, ASP, or CHST are a plus.
- Familiarity with accident investigation procedures and risk mitigation strategies.
- Strong leadership abilities and confidence in addressing safety concerns directly with employees and contractors.
- Stay updated on evolving laws and regulations impacting HR and safety practices.
Experience in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)
Construction Industry experience
Knowledge of OSHA & California compliance, rules, and regulations
Experience with HR functions: Safety Training, hiring, onboarding, coaching
Bilingual in Spanish
Degree in Safety or Environmental Health highly desired.
