Job title: Environmental Specialist
Location: Georgetown, KY
Job purpose:
- The Environmental Specialist will support the EHS Manager with the goal of continuous improvement toward world-class
- environmental practices and a zero-incident workplace. They serve as an expert in environmental disciplines and help
- develop and administer aspects of International Crankshaft, Inc.’s environmental programs.
- Duties and responsibilities
- Ensures the company complies with all federal, state, and local regulations required in a manufacturing environment, including applicable EPA (40 CFR) and KDEP regulations and ISO-14001 requirements.
- Reviews and analyzes company environmental practices by conducting audits, determines any recommendations based on audits performed, and reports to upper management.
- Completes and submits appropriate federal, state, and local regulatory filings.
- Collects and maintains essential data for effective environmental programs.
- Maintains an understanding of programs such as but not limited to: Groundwater Protection Plans (GWP), Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), environmental permitting and reporting, industrial hygiene, recycling, waste streams, and hazardous material reporting.
- Assists with keeping accurate and complete records of training, inspections, audits, and required regulatory documentation.
- Educates, motivates, and trains Team Members in environmental best practices, rules, and procedures.
- Aids and supports the development and implementation of plant programs for the identification, prevention and control of environmental disturbances and impacts.
- Organizes and administers required refresher and new hire trainings.
- Participates in and conducts environmental incident investigations.
- Assists with company Environmental Management System development, implementation, & maintenance.
- Proactively addresses and corrects all unacceptable environmental interactions and conditions.
- Cross-train with Safety & Health Specialist to share responsibilities and cover when they are absent.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Preferably have experience in the Safety/Environmental field in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Business, or other relevant field is required
- Practical experience in EPA 40 CFR
- ISO 14001 experience required
- Working knowledge of basic software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in all formats, including verbal, written & presentations
- Familiar with state level environmental regulations and required programs for manufacturers.
