Job Summary
This Faculty member teaches teaches American and/or World History and Social Environment courses. This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Teaches lecture and laboratory sections
* Evaluates students and performs career and academic advising
* Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives
* Participates in curriculum development and revision that stress innovation and multi-cultural emphasis
* Participates in departmental recruiting and retention activities
* Participates in a variety of departmental, campus and college-wide programs, activities and committees
* Prepares and submits student information to Department Chairperson
* Serves as a resource person for adjunct faculty
* Teaches day, evening and weekend classes as needed
* Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
* Master's Degree in History; or a Master's Degree and 18 graduate credit hours in History
* All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
* Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction
* Ability to function well in a technological environment and willing to use technological tools in instruction
* Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
* Possess excellent interpersonal skills
* Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
* Demonstrated effective use of active learning techniques
* Previous curriculum development and recruitment experience a plus
* Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
* Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
* Start date for this Faculty position is anticipated to be on or before Fall Semester 2023
* Doctoral Stipend awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable
Preferences
* Preference will be given to applicants with College level teaching experience.
