Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fire Alarm Designer to join a well-established and fast-growing life safety systems provider. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing fire alarm systems for a variety of commercial buildings across the Chicagoland area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in low-voltage systems design and a deep understanding of relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design fire alarm systems for commercial projects using AutoCAD
• Interpret and apply architectural and electrical drawings
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA, City of Chicago, and international building codes
• Coordinate with project teams, installers, and code officials
• Prepare documentation and submittals in compliance with project and regulatory requirements

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in fire alarm system design (low-voltage electrical)
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
• Familiarity with NFPA 72 and other applicable fire codes
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• NICET certification (Level I or higher) is a plus
• Knowledge of City of Chicago electrical code is highly desirable
