Opportunity
The Food Scientist (Animal Nutrition) will work closely with the leadership and R&D teams to develop and improve products through formulation, process management, and regulatory compliance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead product development and optimization
- Manage prototyping, formulation, pilot production, and scale-up
- Develop high-quality sustainable products using new and existing raw materials
- Collaborate on market research to understand consumer trends
- Communicate formula limitations to stakeholders
- Support manufacturing and quality teams with technical expertise
- Maintain nutritional and labeling databases
- Create and review nutritional panels for packaging
- Resolve quality issues with department heads, customers, and suppliers
- Ensure production goals and process optimization
Additional Responsibilities
- Adhere to compliance with policies, quality standards, and safety procedures
- Continue education on processing equipment and ingredient functionality
- Communicate safety and quality concerns to leadership
- Assist production and quality control personnel with problem-solving
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Food Science, Animal Science, Nutrition/Dietetics, Chemical Engineering, or related field, or 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Experience in new product development with a focus on animal nutrition
- Self-motivated with a sense of urgency
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with problem-solving tools
- Understanding of the consumer goods industry, preferably in animal health/wellness
