Job Description
Barber / Stylist (Full-Time / Part-Time)
Location: Friend of a Barber, 126 East 4th Street, East Village, NYC
About Us
Friend of a Barber is a shop built by friends, coworkers, and like-minded New Yorkers who believe in bringing dreams and hard work to life—while having fun doing it. Greg, Josh, and Mark come from different backgrounds, but they share the same philosophy: we show up, we grind, and we support one another. Their collaboration created a cooperative of three businesses under one collective roof.
Here, you are a Friend of the Barber. When someone walks into our space, they immediately feel our energy — warm, real, intentional. We’re a place to pause from the city’s pace, have a genuine conversation, and get a haircut that feels personalized.
If you’re someone who believes in craft, connection, and community, we’d love to have you.

- Provide haircuts, fades, beard trims, styling, and grooming services with care, precision, and consistency

- Create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere — engage clients in conversation (or let them enjoy quiet)
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and a welcoming vibe in your station and throughout the shop
- Keep your tools sharp, sanitized, and ready
- Collaborate with the rest of the team — share ideas, support one another, help the shop evolve
- Occasionally assist with shop tasks: sweeping the floor and keeping your station tidy, receiving deliveries, greeting clients
- Continue learning — staying current with barbering techniques, trends, and best practices
