Industrial Design - Intern/Co-Op
Batesville Indiana
$23-$28/hr
In this dynamic role, you'll work hands-on with product development teams, contributing to the ideation and conceptualization of cutting-edge features and enhancements for a diverse medical device portfolio.
What You'll Do:
- Innovate & Visualize: Collaborate closely with product development to brainstorm and conceptualize new product features and enhancements.
- Design & Develop: Provide essential design support, focusing on concept visualization, intuitive user interface (UI) design, and clear product labeling.
- Collaborate & Influence: Work alongside R&D, New Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, Marketing, and Market Research teams. You'll interact with both internal and external customers to gather requirements and translate them into compelling designs.
- Create & Present: Develop graphics and visuals for user interfaces and product labeling. You'll also translate ideas and feedback into professional presentation materials, including slides, images, and interactive demos.
- Learn & Grow: Receive guidance and mentorship from experienced professionals within our Global Design group, helping you prioritize tasks and achieve project goals.
What You'll Bring:
- Currently enrolled full-time in a B.S. or B.A. program in Industrial Design, Visual Communication (Graphic) Design, or a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) related major.
- A professional, self-motivated, and highly creative mindset with the ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Strong ability to apply HCI principles to translate complex customer requirements into effective and user-friendly interface concepts.
- Proficiency in both Mac and PC environments (preferred).
- Advanced-level computer skills in 2D graphics/illustration software , with a strong preference for the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with MS-Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) is preferred.
- Knowledge of Figma is a strong plus, and familiarity with Adobe XD, KeyShot, Strata 3D CX, or 3D CAD software (like SolidEdge) is also a plus.
- Sketching ability is a plus.
- Exposure to or experience with User Testing/Usability Engineering methods is a definite plus.
Work Environment & Requirements:
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) internship, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility in hours based on project needs. This is currently a hybrid position requiring at least three onsite days per week at our Batesville, Indiana office. Applicants MUST have personal transportation to be considered.
