Under the direction of the Outreach Supervisor, the Information Officer I (Specialist) (IO I) serves as the Outreach Specialist, processing and responding to all public and media inquiries received.

The IO I is the first point of contact for the public and will coordinate across the department to respond to the public and media with timely, accurate and consistent information. This position supports the Department at public outreach events, including representing DPR at public events, and develops outreach materials, videos, fact sheets and communication on DPR and pesticide regulation in California. The IO I tracks and uses key outreach, communication, and public engagement metrics to continuously improve public communications support for the system.

This position will support a highly political and visible engagement, education and outreach strategy using and approaching work with sensitivity, awareness and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
