Job Description

The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Special Education Department has an exciting opportunity for a NYS Certified Special Education Teacher with a passion for teaching and learning! We are now accepting applications for an Instructional Coach . The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge of NYS standards, curriculum and instruction, current educational trends, initiatives for school reform and best practices in professional development. Valid NYS Teacher Certification is required.

This is a Ten (10) month position, with additional summer days as needed.

The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

Support Planning Efforts of BOCES Special Education Programs:

• Consult and collaborate with Principals to plan goal-oriented and data-driven professional development.
• Research and disseminate information relative to the improvement of teaching and learning of students with disabilities.
• Support the work of NYSED initiatives and NYS Standards implementation.

Onsite Professional Coaching and Follow-Up:

• Assess the skill level of teachers to aid in the continual development of programs that meet the needs of the participants.
• Model strategies and provide ongoing support, mentoring and coaching through individual meetings as well as in workshop settings.
• Develop methods and strategies for designing, implementing, and evaluating professional learning programs
• Provide continuing support for instruction by conducting classroom demonstrations, diagnostic observation with feedback, lesson planning and problem solving.

Workshops- On-Site and /or Regional:

• Design and deliver a variety of single day, multi-day and afterschool workshops based on district goals and requests.
• Plan and deliver customized professional development services through presentation, facilitation, planning sessions, and consultation.
