Well established Wheaton family law firm seeks to build a strong support staff of reliable, experienced and professional paralegal / legal secretaries. Ideal candidate(s) will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, possess a willingness to be a team player while maintaining motivation to work independently and have strong knowledge of MS Office products. Duties include:
· Prepare legal documents such as orders, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, deposition notices, petitions and motions, under the guidance of an attorney.
· Communicate with clients and other attorneys via email and telephone in a professional manner
· Assist clients with completion of financial disclosure statements and discovery requests
· Draft professional client correspondence
· Work closely with attorneys to prepare for trial by preparing exhibits, memorandums, and trial books
· Possess the knowledge and ability to e-file
· Assist with general office tasks answering office calls, taking new client calls including obtaining preliminary information for potential new cases
· Organizing physical and electronic case files
· Accurately calendar court dates, meetings, phone calls, depositions, etc.
Knowledge of billing software and dictation is a plus.
Ideal candidates for this position will have a paralegal certificate and/or 5 + years of experience, preferably in family law; have a history of strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
