Job Description
Kelly has a 4 -5 month contract for a Logistics Manager located in downtown Louisville. This position provides PTO, and premium healthcare options.
Scope of Responsibility:
- Achieve all logistics sourcing objectives in alignment with the company's strategic goals.
- Procure all logistical service requirements.
- Report directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain.
Position Purpose: To provide strategic direction and leadership for company-wide logistics operations, including planning, communication, resource allocation, and control. Responsibilities include negotiating all logistics services, such as truckload, LTL, parcel packages, import/export, expedited services, and inter-plant goods movement.
Essential Functions:
- Support manufacturing plants located in Louisville, KY, and High Point, NC.
- Facilitate communication among Customer Service, Production Planning, and freight companies.
- Negotiate freight services and manage associated costs.
- Monitor and optimize logistics expenditures and conduct freight invoice audits.
- Ensure the effective movement and storage of inventories.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and regulations.
- Proactively assist internal contacts to contribute to team efforts.
- Control costs through effective expense management and waste reduction.
Essential Requirements:
- Some overnight travel may be required.
- Ability to work extended hours as needed.
- Continuous communication with team members through various methods.
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, technical, or a related field; or an Associate's Degree with 5+ years of experience; or a non-degree holder with 10 years of manufacturing experience and 5+ years in logistics.
- Extensive knowledge of logistics regulations, warehouse procedures, ERP systems, and logistics applications.
- Strong proficiency in computer applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to handle confidential information.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively across all management levels.
Physical Requirements:
