Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance, Facilities, and Equipment Manager is a critical part of the Conception Nurseries Operations team. This individual is responsible for the maintenance, care, and efficient operation of all equipment, building, and grounds maintenance for Conception's plant production facilities. This position takes an active role in improving overall organizational performance, especially as related to the areas of facility maintenance.. This individual is responsible for ensuring the facilities are safe, up to code, and fully operational. They are responsible for managing contractors and working with third-party vendors. This position will report directly to the VP of Business Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Works collaboratively with operations leadership to ensure all facilities and equipment needs are met to their satisfaction.
  • Works with operations leadership to solve unique facility challenges with creative solutions
  • Oversees, manages and directs all maintenance procedures, operations, and repairs.
  • Coordinates building security and maintenance services.
  • Maintains files of warranties, records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, and contracts for various pieces of equipment and facilities. 
  • Troubleshoots any issues involving various types of machines, and provides consultative and technical services.
  • Perform complex (journey level) mechanical and electronic equipment repair and troubleshooting work. 
  • Monitor, repair, install, and perform routine and corrective maintenance on all facilities equipment, including but not limited to the HVAC, water pumps, generator, and other mechanical systems. 
  • Manages and maintains vendor relationships for the facilities. 
  • Ensures facilities and equipment are ready for regular business and special events.
  • Ensures all machinery is up to working standards.
  • Develops maintenance work processes that optimize efficiency to minimize breakdowns and repairs (performing quality checks) of all machinery, tools, equipment, etc.
  • Plans and oversees all repair and installation activities.
  • Maintains maintenance logs to record and track daily progress/error reports by using data analysis.
  • Troubleshoots problem areas and creates a clear plan of action for fixing necessary parts.
  • Maintains the spare parts inventory, storage, and distribution of equipment.
  • Creates and adheres to maintenance budgets and provides recommendations for purchases of new equipment.
  • Supervises all facilities and maintenance personnel. Trains new employees in maintenance work processes and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the appropriate management staff to prepare and implement facilities and maintenance budgets.
  • Supervises and organizes warehouse activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, inventory logistics, shipping, and receiving.
  • Oversees and manages logistics for transporting products to company facilities.
  • Works with management to develop safety policies and create SDS documents.
  • Coordinates site safety programs and maintains a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Enforces all health and safety rules and regulations according to state/federal laws and company policies.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, supply-chain management or a related field preferred. Certification in facilities management is a plus.
  • 7+ years previous experience in maintenance supervision or a related field
  • Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets
  • Mechanic/Machinist experience necessary
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Assists team members when needed to accomplish team goal
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a problem-solver
  • Strict adherence to company philosophy/mission statement/sales goals
  • Follows all company policies and procedures
  • OSHA-30 a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES 

  • Construction, carpentry, and remodeling, including methods of construction
  • Applicable state and federal building, fire, and electrical codes
  • Occupational hazards and safety precautions of maintenance work
  • Plumbing
  • Electricity and electrical systems both AC and DC voltage 
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Computer skills; may include scheduling with G-Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, or similar software

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role will require working in advanced plant production facilities including frequent walking and

standing in warm and bright environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is

frequently required to bend, crawl, sit, talk, move about, hear and speak. May be required to work in

restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions. Employees may be exposed to

outside weather conditions when transporting materials. The employee must occasionally lift and/or

move up to 30 pounds and be able to use appropriate support equipment to lift and move greater

amounts. 

Other Physical Requirements: This may include work in outdoor environments during inclement

weather. High frequency of computer work.
