Maintenance & Reliability Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Reliability Engineer to join our silica processing plant in Westlake, LA. This role is focused on improving the reliability and performance of fixed and rotating equipment critical to operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in mechanical maintenance, root cause analysis, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) , with hands-on experience supporting pumps, compressors, conveyors, tanks, and piping systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on equipment failures; recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and implement RCM strategies , including preventive & predictive maintenance programs.
- Monitor equipment health using vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing , etc.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Optimize maintenance schedules and spare parts inventory using equipment histories and data trends.
- Lead or support reliability improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff on reliability best practices.
- Use CMMS to track work orders, maintenance activities, and KPIs (MTBF, MTTR).
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies , particularly regarding silica handling.
- Support capital projects by reviewing equipment specifications and contributing to commissioning.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) – required.
- 2+ years’ experience in reliability, maintenance, or related engineering roles (chemical, mining, or materials handling preferred).
- Strong knowledge of fixed & rotating equipment reliability principles and failure analysis.
- Proficient in RCA methods (FMEA, 5-Why), condition monitoring tools, and CMMS systems .
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret technical data and make sound decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment with PPE (exposure to dust, noise, heat).
Preferred:
- Familiarity with API, ASME, ISO standards.
- Experience leading reliability-focused projects.
