POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Supervisor (5a-5p)

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager

SUMMARY

Directly supervises all assigned employees and maintenance activities of the shift.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

  • Contributes and positively impacts safety 1st culture, including maintaining compliance with PPE requirements, Lock Out Tag Out and other Health Safety policies procedures.
  • Conduct/participate in weekly Safety meetings with department personnel.

Communication

  • Establish positive, open communication with the production leadership team involving reliability and machine performance.
  • Report any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known, including unplanned/emergency breakdowns, to leadership and scheduling teams.
  • At the end of each shift, report all pertinent information to the maintenance manager and supervisors.

Team Building and Development

  • Establish high morale throughout your department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality.
  • Cultivate talent through training, mentoring, conflict resolution, positive reinforcement, and discipline as needed.
  • Be engaged in projects and repairs, and provide assistance and resources as needed through a solution-oriented approach.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with all plant personnel, vendors, and suppliers.

Maintenance Planning

  • Prioritize and assign maintenance tasks and projects to be completed.
  • Manage and oversee planning preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all equipment, and actively monitor parts inventory by utilizing the company Imaint system
  • Become familiar with O.E.M. manuals and parts books, and utilize them to identify parts needed for upcoming repairs and projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee work that is contracted to outside vendors.
  • Support plant objectives by exercising flexibility and adaptability.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Required
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in an industrial maintenance setting
  • Clear, concise oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and, overtime as needed

Preferred

  • BS Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering
  • Maintenance experience in the corrugated box industry

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurements, volume, and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
