Mechanical Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator for our commercial mechanical plumbing and HVAC construction firm located in Torrington, CT. Candidate will need to demonstrate a broad knowledge of the Plumbing and HVAC industry. We value quality, integrity, leadership, hard work & teamwork. Daily responsibilities include researching potential projects, analyzing costs, and creating estimate from start to finish. This position requires you to have great communication with sub-contractors and vendors. You will need to build effective relationships with General Contractors and project owners.

Requirements for Qualified Candidates:

• Estimating experience for projects $5,000,000.00 and Less.
• Minimum of 5 Years’ experience in the Plumbing/HVAC Commercial/industrial.
• Experience using Trimble/Quickpen or Fast pipe (preferred.)
• The ability to manage multiple projects/bids at once.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledgeable in CHRO requirements and Set aside plans.
• Ability to read Blueprints.
• Understanding the bidding process within the Plumbing & HVAC Industry.
• Ability to work with Microsoft Office programs as well as PDF software.
• Experience with mechanical/plumbing equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work autonomously with little supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and Lead the Estimating Department.
• Reviewing project documents, prints and specifications.
• Estimate equipment and costs required to provide material in the sale of commercial HVAC & Plumbing products.
• Communicate with general contractors, mechanical contractors, and owners as needed.
• Review and interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and CAD Drawings to perform takeoffs.
• Gather quotes from Subcontractors and Vendors for inclusion into bids.
• Communicating with suppliers and vendors for buy outs.
• Creating Project Budgets.
• Attend Bid Meetings & Site Walk Throughs.
• Meet strict deadlines.
