Position Overview

Our optometry practice is seeking a full-time Medical Biller to manage all aspects of insurance billing and collections. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with optometry billing, specifically both vision insurance and medical insurance , and will be able to handle claims, appeals, and reimbursements independently with little to no training.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare, submit, and track insurance claims (vision and medical).
• Review EOBs (Explanation of Benefits), scan and attach documentation, and ensure payments are applied correctly.
• Handle appeals, denials, and resubmissions in a timely and accurate manner.
• Post payments and reconcile accounts daily.
• Manage patient statements, balances, and collections.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and private insurance requirements.
• Generate billing and aging reports as needed.
• Work closely with office staff to ensure accurate patient billing information.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of billing experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or medical office.
• Strong understanding of the difference between vision insurance and medical insurance billing.
• Proven ability to manage appeals and complex claim issues.
• Proficiency with OfficeMate and ECRVault (preferred).
• Detail-oriented, efficient, and able to work independently without extensive training.
• Full-time in-office presence preferred; remote candidates may be considered with strong experience.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
