Middle School Theater Technician (Part-Time)

Harvard-Westlake School is seeking candidates for the position of Middle School Theater Technician. This is a part-time, hourly position through June 2025.

Responsibilities include:

• Working, under the supervision of the technical director, as a sound and/or lighting technician during performing arts events in both the 840-seat Saperstein Theater and the 100-seat Katzenberg Blackbox Theater
• Providing support as needed for school-wide functions, such as guest speakers, parent events, and administrative events.
• Assist in managing student crews during productions.

We are looking for someone with a:

• Strong background in technical theater
• Knowledge of safe working practices and safety procedures for working in a theater
• Knowledge of the ETC Eos family systems, networking skills, and electrical systems for the stage
• Experience in sound reinforcement for live performance, including knowledge of digital audio mixing desks.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• A history of working well with a production team
• The ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Schedule: This is a part-time position, working as needed for each production. The work schedule will be set with the Technical Director. Rehearsals are typically from 3:15 pm - 5:30 pm (until 7:00 pm for some dress rehearsals) on weekdays, and occasionally 10:00 am - 3:00 pm on Saturdays. Approximately 10-15 hours per week can be anticipated depending on the production and event schedule. This position will begin as soon as possible.

Compensation:

Anticipated compensation for this position term is between $32-$40 per hour based on experience.
