Job Description:
Regulatory and technical work monitoring beach use for compliance with regulations governing Sandy Neck Beach Park including site specific rules, applicable town ordinances, and state and federal laws. Duties include patrolling to determine environmental condition; inspecting the activities of individuals using natural resources for recreational or other purposes to ensure compliance with laws and regulations; and providing for the overall maintenance of Sandy Neck Beach Park; all other related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School graduation with college level coursework in resource management, parks, environmental science, teaching, criminal justice, or related field.
Two seasons experience in resource management, security, or nature education is required.
Certification in First Responder and CPR.
Massachusetts Driver’s License.
Additional Qualifications:
Knowledgeable of the principles of natural resource management and biological processes. Employee must effectively communicate knowledge to individuals from various age groups, educational levels, and backgrounds. Cognizant of legal ramifications of endangered species legislation, property ownership, public lands, and medical liability, and able to protect the town's interest in that regard. Able to assess complex situations under pressure, and to deal with irate people in an appropriate manner. Required to wear an issued uniform and responsible for associated equipment. Employee must maintain uniforms and equipment to high professional standards.
$26.61 hourly/40 hours per week/9 months per year + benefits.
