Job Description
New Jersey Brain and Spine, with multiple locations across New Jersey, is seeking a dynamic and self-driven Physician Assistant to join our team. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including inpatient hospital rounds and consults, management of surgical patients in the preoperative and perioperative periods, responding to stroke and trauma calls, and, when needed, serving as a surgical first assist. Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluates inpatient consults and rounds on hospital patients as requested by the group’s surgeons at 5 area hospitals
- Independently assess patients and order appropriate labs/radiology tests/consults
- Performs history & physicals, writes pre- and post-operative orders for surgeon
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem-solving solving and critical thinking skills
- Prescribe medications according to New Jersey State law, including controlled substances with DEA authorization
- Maintains board certification
- Maintains annual CME requirement for re-appointment and privileging
- Maintains current expertise in area of practice
- Promotes own professional growth and development in clinical role
- Works collaboratively with the attending physician & PA team to maintain timely and appropriate communication
- Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, including the attending physician, to develop and implement the therapeutic plan of care for requesting attending surgeons
- Assists in surgical cases as needed
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Master's of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
- New Jersey Physician Assistant License
- New Jersey DEA License
- New Jersey CDS License
- ACLS, BLS
