Job Description

General Devices is currently looking for a skilled Powder Coat Painter who is dedicated to continuous learning and improvement. A successful Powder Coat Painter will have experience working in a powder coat booth, coating metal with an even hand and very little re-work.

General Devices is a metal manufacturer specializing in slide structures of all sizes that make moving heavy or accessing hard to reach parts easier. We also build cabinets and other structures for our customers to incorporate into their product.

Scheduled Hours: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM Overtime as needed

The starting pay rate is $18 to $20 per hour. EXPERIENCED Powder Coat Painter pay may be negotiable

Your Day at a Glance:

• Set up, analyze and maintain various types of painting systems
• Select the appropriate paint or mix paints according to predetermined formulas
• Mix coating materials to proper consistency, adding solvents and thinners for efficient paint application
• Prepare surfaces and apply a wide variety of coatings and textures to parts or products per specifications
• Will use test equipment to determine quality of paint finish and solve problems if needed.
• Requires complete knowledge of powder coat application process. Knowledge of wet (spray using paint pots) preferable but not required
• Will read and interpret prints
• Report all scrap
• Use measuring equipment, i.e., scales, squares, etc.
• Clean and maintain painting guns and other equipment
• Perform general job site custodial work, cleaning construction debris, moving debris, and general housekeeping.
• Will advise and direct other employees when needed
• Must practice Company Safety Guidelines for all areas
• May be asked to work in a variety of different departments and/or operate various machines depending upon need

Requirements:

• A positive attitude, and ability and willingness to learn
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience powder coating in metal manufacturing or similar setting to be considered
• Must pass Respirator Fitness and wear Company supplied painter's full body suit.
• Physical requirements include the ability to walk and stand the entire shift, arm and hand mobility, lifting a maximum of 50 lbs. intermittently
• Must be able to work in a high heat environment
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others at all levels of the organization
