Shift: Days or Overnights

Pay: $2300 weekly travel, $2052 weekly local

Start Date: 2/24 or 3/3

Hours per week: 36 hours

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description: The Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) Nurse provides specialized care to patients with serious, complex, and chronic conditions who require extended hospitalization. This nurse works closely with interdisciplinary teams to manage and monitor patients who may need extended support for conditions such as respiratory failure, severe infections, and post-surgical recovery. The LTAC Nurse delivers patient-centered care that focuses on stabilizing and improving patients' long-term health while providing support for both patients and families.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment and Monitoring : Conduct thorough initial and ongoing assessments of patients, evaluating vital signs, lab results, and medical histories. Monitor patients with complex needs, including those on ventilators, IV medications, and other life-sustaining treatments.

Care Coordination : Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and other specialists to develop and implement comprehensive care plans. Monitor progress, adjust care protocols as necessary, and ensure all team members are informed of the patient's condition.

Administration of Treatments : Administer medications, manage intravenous (IV) lines, provide wound care, and monitor patients for complications. Perform specialized tasks such as respiratory treatments, catheter care, and feeding tube management.

Patient Education : Educate patients and their families on managing chronic illnesses, discharge planning, and any ongoing care needs. Offer support in navigating complex medical information, and ensure families are well-informed about the care process and treatment goals.

Family Support : Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families, helping them adjust to the long-term care environment. Offer guidance and reassurance during challenging times.

Documentation and Compliance : Ensure that all patient care and clinical interventions are accurately documented in the medical record. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, and comply with healthcare regulations and safety standards.

Infection Control and Safety : Follow all infection control protocols to minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infections, maintain a safe care environment, and ensure patient safety during all stages of treatment.
