Job Description We are currently looking for a talented developer to play a critical role in the growth of Alertus. The Senior Node.js Developer will report to the Team Leader and be a key player in bringing our mission to life. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and innovating SaaS applications that thousands of Alertus customers rely on for notification and emergency events. Our ideal candidate is one who is fully engaged in the building of amazing web and mobile applications - a candidate focused on using best practices in NodeJS development and motivated to learn new technologies and frameworks. Travel to our Baltimore HQ is required for onboarding, training, and other in-person team/company activities. Candidates must be located in the Baltimore, MD area and/or within driving distance to our headquarters A Day in the Life: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of geographically distributed NodeJS developers. Develop backend AWS Lambda and microservices using NodeJS that can be used across multiple platforms and devices Writes great code and tests. Drives the design and architecture of their product/service. Drives operational readiness & excellence of their product/service. Identifies priorities and sequence of work to help on the planning for software development. Identifies and mitigates risks in their project and across services. Minimum Qualifications: 5-8 years of experience shipping scalable, cloud native distributed systems Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience Strong grasp of Computer Science concepts (data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms) You are experienced at building highly available services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols At least 4 years of experience building highly available services in AWS Experience with production operations and best practices for putting quality code in production and troubleshoot issues when they arise Able to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations) Proficient in all of the following: Javascript, Typescript, NodeJs, NestJS Understanding of relational and non-relational databases and their integration with Node.js, including ORM/ODM frameworks like Mongoose Two years of experience building software using serverless architecture Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment Understanding the lifecycle of software development from coding, deploying and running it in production.
