Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: The Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of the children. The Aide may also be assigned as a one-to-one for a particular child and assist the child in daily activities within the school setting. This position serves children from birth to 21 years. RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Assists in the implementation of daily programs and activities under the direction of the teacher. 2. Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies. 3. Attends to the students with physical needs in the classroom including daily and functional living skills. 4. Encourages students by providing positive feedback about their abilities and performance. 5. Assists teachers with the administration of tests and assignments and monitoring student progress. 6. Addresses behaviors and coordinates with teachers when appropriate for behavior management. 7. Supervises student activities outside the classroom such as recess, specials, and the restroom, when needed. 8. Demonstrates an awareness of and adherence to safety and legal requirements established at the facility with an emphasis on maintaining a safe environment for all persons working in the facility. 9. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications The Teaching Assistant shall be at least 18 years of age. A high school diploma is required. At least 1 year experience in child care/development is required. Must hold a valid Teaching Assistant Certification. Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish). Posted Salary Range USD $19.50 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
